Translation/Interpretation/Caption Text:
"Arab Jerusalem, watercolor, gouache and gold foil on paper, 528 x 728 mm, 1982. The title refers to the city's Arabic name, Al-Quds (the Holy One), written to the left. The rock, with Jewish, Christian and Moslem symbols, shows the city’s eternal religious heritage. More transient political events are indicated by the symbols of claimants, invaders and occupiers of Jerusalem throughout its history (Palestinian to the left; Israeli, Crusader, Roman, etc., to the right)."
