Curator's note: The signature on this poster reads "Shammout". However, according to Bashar Shammout, the son of the late artist Ismail Shammout, this poster is not the work of Ismail Shammout. A key element in this conclusion is that Ismail never signed any of his posters or paintings in Latin script: he always used Arabic script to sign his works. Bashar has also pointed out that three other members of the Shammout family studied art in Cairo and it may be that one of them created this poster.
